New Horizons for Seniors Program applications are now open

Organizations eligible for the New Horizons for Seniors Program can now apply for 2023! The New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP) is a Grants and Contributions program established to increase social inclusion of seniors and help ensure that seniors can benefit from, and contribute to, the quality of life in their communities. Eligible organizations can apply for up to $25,000 for projects that are led by seniors and are volunteer based. Applications are open until September 14, 2023 at 3:00 p.m.

Program objectives
The objectives of the NHSP are to:

  • Promote volunteerism among seniors and other generations
  • Engage seniors in the community through mentoring of others
  • Expand awareness of senior abuse, including financial abuse
  • Support social participation and inclusion of seniors
  • Provide capital assistance for new and existing community projects and programs for seniors

If your proposed project is requesting capital assistance, it must meet at least 1 of the first 4 program objectives.

National priorities
Projects submitted for this grant do not have to meet 1 of the following National priorities. However, if your project does meet 1 or more of the National priorities, it will receive extra points during the assessment process. They are:

  • Supporting healthy ageing
  • Preventing senior abuse
  • Celebrating diversity and promoting inclusion
  • Supporting financial security

Please note that applicants will have to submit all required documents at the time of the application to be eligible. An application with missing information will be considered as incomplete and will be screened out from the process.
